photo: Isidora Barna The marsh is most beautiful in early summer, when it turns white from water lilies, but scientists slightly fear what is hidden under the surface. Namely, the swamp grass and its roots have grown so thick that they represent a peril to the fish. That would be a great damage, because there are 24 fish species mating in the Begej. Along the banks the reeds are spreading unstoppably, so ecologists are trying to regain the balance of the flora and fauna of that natural reserve. |
