Years of monitoring the migrating birds have shown that the Carska Bara is a big stop and resting place for many birds that fly from Central Europe to Southern Africa. Characteristic of this area are herons, especially blue and white ones, famous for precious feathers, also belonging to endangered species. In the Carska Bara, their colony sometimes consists of up to 2,000 nests.
