photo: Isidora Barna The entire complex is part of a wider area that belongs to the Ecka Fish Pond, the biggest one in the country. Once oupon a time those fish ponds and hunting grounds used were the property of count Lazar Lukac, whose guest were mostly passionate hunters, rich people and crowned heads, including the Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Many believe this might be the reason for the name Imperial pond. However, the legend has it that leader of the Huns – Attila, who once ruled those regions, was buried in a golden casket on the bottom of the Tisza River, from which the marsh has appeared, hence the name Carska Bara. |
