For that reason the Australian Government has listed this marsh in the registry of water ecosystems of primary significance. Namely, there are 240 bird species living here either permanently or occasionally, and many of them are endangered, thus the state protection of the reserve. For example, the colony of stock pigeons is unique in the country. |
